A house move is the largest single logistical job most people ever organise, and it is almost always organised while they are also selling a house, buying a house and doing a full-time job. Our part of it is the part that should not need your attention: the right number of people, the right vehicle, and a plan for the access at both ends.
We move whole households across the whole county — the Victorian terraces of East Oxford and Grimsbury, the larger North Oxford and village houses with three floors and a cellar, new-builds at Kingsmere and Great Western Park, stone cottages above Chipping Norton, and barn conversions at the end of a lane that no satnav believes in.
What shapes the job
Not the number of bedrooms. Two three-bedroom houses can be completely different moves. The things that actually decide it are the volume, the access, and the day.
- Volume — including the loft, the garage, the shed and the garden. This is what sizes the vehicle.
- Access at both ends — where the van can legally stand, how far the carry is, whether there are steps, and how the staircase turns. This is what sizes the crew.
- The day — a completion-dependent move behaves very differently from a move out of a rented house with a fixed end date.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
A lot of Oxfordshire housing is listed or sits in a conservation area — the stone towns of the Cotswold edge, the centres of Wallingford, Woodstock and Burford, much of central Oxford. That restricts what can be temporarily altered to get an item through a door.
We do not remove window frames or door heads from listed buildings. Where an item genuinely will not fit, we identify it at the survey and tell you, so you can decide whether it is being sold, stored, or taken apart by a specialist. Finding out on moving day, with a van on a suspended bay and a chain waiting, is the outcome we are trying to avoid.

One
The survey
We look at both properties — in person or over video — and work out what is actually going. Loft, garage, shed and cellar included, because those are where the volume hides. We also look at the access at each end: where a vehicle can stand, how far the carry is, how the stairs turn.

Two
The written quote
You get the crew size, the vehicle, the date, what is included and what is not, in writing. If a parking suspension is needed we say so and we apply for it. If something will not fit down your stairs, you hear about it now rather than on the day.

Three
Packing
Full packing, fragile-only, or materials supplied for you to do it yourself. Rooms are labelled to match a plan for the new house, so boxes land where they are meant to instead of in a heap in the hall.

Moving day
Protection down first — floors, frames, banisters. Furniture dismantled as needed. The load secured properly rather than wedged. At the far end, reassembly, boxes into the right rooms, and the empties taken away if you want them gone.

House removals — questions we get asked
Do you move on Fridays and at month end?
Yes, and those are the dates that fill first because most completions land on them. If your date is flexible, a midweek move in the middle of the month is easier to book and easier to run.
What happens to the loft and the garage?
They come too, and they are usually the reason a quote given without a survey turns out to be wrong. We count them properly at the survey so the vehicle is sized for what is really there.
Can you move us in stages?
Yes. Part loads, a storage period in the middle, or a first trip with the essentials and a second with the rest — all of it is normal, and all of it needs to be agreed in advance so the crew and vehicle are booked correctly.
